In a few short days, 2014 will be over and 2015 will begin. I would be lying if I said I wasn't apprehensive. I feel vulnerable to the world and vulnerable in my path. In an attempt to stop my doubts in their tracks (c'mon Carley, I just went through this!) I reminded myself of the pure joy of not knowing what wonderful gifts are ahead and that through faith I can be confident in this promise.
A few things I have to look forward to in 2015:
I am not new to my job anymore and excited to take on more responsibility.
Still working with Girls on the Run South Louisiana, an organization that fuels my passion to help young girls. My job is to share the stories of our participants and volunteers. I hope to experience and aid this organization as it grows in our community.
Another Louisiana Youth Seminar approaches and my second year as program director (and nine summers spent at LYS!) This organization has my heart and has taught me everything I know about leadership. If you know me, you know my house turns red and white (our colors) around summertime and I am liable to burst out into cheers at any moment.
And my great unknown:
The outcome of my journey with Millennial Trains Project. My deadline to raise $5,000 is approaching, January 31. I am 73% of the way to my goal and need $1,370 more in contributions. If I reach my goal, my seat on the 10-day MTP journey in May will be secured. My project will have the opportunity to visit 6 cities across the United States. I will have the chance to bring back knowledge, relationships and ideas to my community and peers. (Specifically, to those two incredible organizations I listed above.)
I am confident in the value of this journey and my project's goal to engage with other women to inspire a movement to mentor and assist young girls in our community to embrace leadership. As I enter into 2015 I hope this dream comes to fruition. With your help I believe it can!
Please share my efforts with friends and consider financially supporting my project. I also want to thank the contributors who have already supported my project, Generation Leadership!
