Tomorrow marks one week in Fort Worth, TX. As I am adjusting to everything I can say that I have high hopes for this summer.
I started my communications internship at Mothers' Milk Bank of North Texas on Monday. They have welcomed me with gracious smiles and I am so happy to be working with them. I also settled into the house I'll be living in for the next two months. It's been fun figuring out my new daily routine. Though some things are different, some things never change. I always start my day with coffee, a devotional and a lit candle. My mother taught me well :)
My quest for running routes was of course the next priority. Every time I'm driving I think "Oo could that be a new spot to run!?" (I feel like all runners can relate to this.) And I am happy to report that Fort Worth has surpassed my expectations. This is definitely a runner-friendly town. I hope to come back with stronger legs- There are hills here!
Few more tidbits: There is no suitable Louisiana food here (bummer). However, I found a vegetarian cafe and a greek restaurant (hallelujah). I found the Hobby Lobby, local running store, Target and Zoes (you know, the essentials). I live about a football field away from the Communication School at TCU and a short jog away from Hudson's office at the stadium (I guess that's pretty cool.)
And my last takeaway: I live across from a church and I work across from a church. Every half hour and hour I hear beautiful bells. I believe it is a special reminder from God. Though many times I have questioned and fought against my path, I am where I am supposed to be. His timing is perfect. He has placed me on my journey according to His will. And I couldn't be more thankful or blessed.
