My journey with Millennial Trains Project has begun. I boarded the plane at BTR this morning with my suitcase and backpack. We joked at home about bringing my cat. Unfortunately O’Malley did not make the packing list. But I am prepped with my laptop, books, notebooks and little packs of almonds (always prep with snacks).
I will update my blog regularly to share my journey. Posts will include my discussions with people in each city, the speakers aboard our train and in general, thoughts along the way. I hope to soak in all the knowledge I can from the individuals and organizations I meet with, but also from the people behind these unique and passionate projects who will also be on the MTP train. I will be using the hashtag #GenLeadership to share about my project and anything else MTP related with #MTPTrain on Twitter and Instagram if you want to follow the conversation.
First stop, Los Angeles. The MTP staff has a fantastic Friday morning scheduled for us including a meeting with Compton Mayor Aja Brown, the founder of Craiglist, Craig Newmark, and a design thinking workshop with a project lead at IDEO Scott Paterson. During my individual project time I will be meeting with Girls on the Run Los Angeles and Step Up (<--That's a whole lot of girl power and I'm pumped!) Our train journey to San Antonio will begin later that evening. Choo choo!
Of course I couldn’t leave Baton Rouge without reflecting on the journey ahead. And naturally, the Lord would provide a reminder of my true purpose. Last Sunday we sang this hymn in church. With the sounds of the mighty organ playing we sang,
"Go to the world! Go into every place. Go live the word of God’s redeeming grace. Go seek God’s presence in each time and space. Alleluia. Alleluia."

Thank you to those that supported my project financially and through your advice and guidance. I am beyond grateful for this opportunity.
